Hyderabad: Reacting sternly to Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s comment on renaming of two halls of Rashtrapati Bhavan, Telangana State BJP official spokesperson NV Subhash asked her to gain knowledge about India’s ancient culture before passing any comment.
Vadra, on Thursday, took a dig at the Narendra Modi-led government over the renaming of the Durbar and Ashok Halls, saying that the concept of Shahenshah (king) stills exists in the country.
Subhash said that the two halls of Rashtrapati Bhavan have been renamed as Gantantra Mandap and Ashok Mandap. “The newly christened halls reflect our deep culture, value and ethos. While “Gantantra” indicates our democracy, “Mandap” is a sacred place where all ceremonies are held in India.”
At the Gantantra Mandap, swearing-in-ceremonies of cabinet ministers and other oath taking ceremonies, including that of Chief Justice of India, has taken place. National and International awards are also given to distinguished personalities here, he added.
Suggesting Vadra to study about ancient Indian history before making any comments in future, he said, “Though Congress is an old political party in the history of Indian politics, its leaders, particularly Gandhi scion does not have any knowledge about country’s ancient culture and tradition.”
